Starr Kimmer Gargiullo
After Starr had her third child in 1989, she became interested in fitness, specifically weight training. At that time there hardly was -- if at all -- a woman in a weight room. She started mostly doing aerobics and a few cardio and stationary weight machines.
In late 1989 Starr started working out with a retired Navy Chief who was friendly with her husband. He taught her the proper use of free weights and after using them for about six months, in addition to running and aerobics, she started to see a transformation in her body. The result was defined muscles, decreased body fat and the freedom to enjoy foods -- even pizza (within reason) -- without the weight gain which she had experienced before when splurging. This was due to consistent weight training and aerobic exercise she was doing five days per week.
With this love of weight training, Starr decided to get a college degree that would allow her to work in the health and wellness industry. With her knowledge, she hoped to help others achieve their goals in fitness and wellness -- whether it be to just improve someone’s quality of life with home-bound seniors, body sculpting for women who want to build lean muscle mass or increasing muscle endurance for athletes.
Starr finds joy in her work by improving other’s lives with 17 years experience to work with any demographic. She also specializes in working with those who suffer with chronic health conditions and follow-up physical therapy from prior injuries.
Starr also specializes in Group Personal Training, advanced work- out routines such as Tabata, TRX and spin classes. She is also a certified AFAA personal trainer and a certified cancer exercise specialist as well as CPR and AED trained through the American Heart Association. She has a M.S. in Business Management and a B.S. in Recreation Management with a Minor in Wellness.
