Maria became interested in fitness when she started playing sports in high school. She started as a marathon runner on the high school team and loved how exercise decreased her stress and released endorphins. She also joined the soccer, track and tennis team. While training with the football coach, she learned how to lift weights and became very interested in weight training.
“It takes concentration, form and repetition and in the end the results are awesome,” says Maria. “Exercise for me is a way of life where you can slowly do something every day, every other day or give your all one day a week to excel, release your energies and receive positive ones.”
After high school, Maria joined the military and exercise became part
of her daily living. She continued to train with others who loved
weight training, running and practicing exercises with the command fitness team, as well as different methods of exercising with the Command Diver team. This exposure led Maria to become passionate about a variety of exercises.
“By practicing and receiving education on proper weight training and
exercises from the Navy’s Fitness Team, I met other fitness lovers in the gym and sometimes spending up to 4 hours a day together!” says Maria.
Maria became part of the Navy’s Fitness Trainers and helped those who needed to pass their weight standards. Getting that experience led her to want to train others and teach them proper form and help them fall in love with fitness.
After leaving the military and joining a local gym, she gained experience in group training and indoor cycling and later began working in a women’s gym. With the encouragement of her peers, she eventually got certified in teaching some fitness classes.
Maria’s experience includes Boot Camp classes, small group training, personal training, body sculpt, aqua aerobics and spinning classes.
